Lothiancountry have today, Monday 18 February, announced that customers in West Lothian are to receive another new route and further improvements to bus services from Sunday 31stMarch.
Following customer feedback, New Service 281 will connect Deans North with Carmondean, Knightsridge, Ladywell, St John’s Hospital, Craigshill, Livingston Centre, Polbeth, West Calder and Loganlea, 7 days a week. This service will provide direct links from Craigshill to the major retailers Morrison’s and Sainsbury’s.
Key changes also include improved frequency between Blackridge, Armadale, Bathgate and Livingston with Service 280.
Service X27 will now provide new links from Dedridge West to Edinburgh, as well as to Livingston Centre, St John’s Hospital and Bathgate. Service X18 will be revised to provide new links between Whitburn, Armadale, Bathgate and Edinburgh.
Following the successful launch of Service N28 at the end of 2018, Lothiancountry will be introducing further enhancements to the timetable with the introduction of new weekday journeys to assist late night or early morning customers.
As a result of these improvements, further new jobs will be created, boosting the local economy and cementing the company’s long term commitment to the local community of West Lothian.

Lothiancountry began operations in West Lothian in August 2018, and operate a fare structure based on a simple and customer friendly zonal system. Along with great value single fares the company offer three Dayticket options for customers.
- The countryWEST Day Ticket provides customers with unlimited travel across West Lothian for £5 per day.
- The lothianWEST Day Ticket will allow unlimited access and unrivalled value across all Lothian Country services and Lothian city services for just £7.50 per day.
- The NETWORK Day Ticket, which will allow Lothian Country customers access to all Lothian day services, Airlink and East Coast Buses services at just £9 for a whole day.
For regular customers and users, discounted m-ticket bundles are available to purchase for Lothiancountry services via the Lothian app saving up to 50% on standard fares.
A bespoke fleet of vehicles in Lothiancountry’s distinctive green and cream livery fitted with USB charging points and Wi-Fi are used on these services, offering customers high levels of comfort and quality for their journeys.

Service X18 – Revised Route & Timetable
Route is revised and will no longer serve Wester Inch, instead serving Bathgate, Edinburgh Road and the Town Centre. The route will be extended from Armadale Station to Whitburn West End with improved Saturday & Sunday early morning timetable. Some journeys re-timed on all days of the week to better cater for workers travelling to and from the Tesco distribution centre. The bus stop at Western Corner will no longer be served in either direction.
Service X27/X28 – Revised Route & Timetable
Service X27 will be re-routed to serve Dedridge West, providing direct links from this part of Livingston to Edinburgh and Deans/Bathgate. Within Bathgate, the route is altered to terminate at the Morrison’s store instead of South Bridge Street. A revised timetable will be introduced with earlier journeys on Mondays to Fridays and Sunday mornings, including journeys timed specifically for shift workers at the Tesco distribution centre. Earlier morning journeys will now operate from Bathgate on all days of the week. The stopping pattern within the City will be altered with additional stops introduced at Chesser Avenue and Balgreen Road. Additionally, all stops between Sighthill and Saughton Mains/Parkhead Terrace will now be served.
Service 275 – Revised Timetable
Revised timetable introduced on all days of the week. Additional early morning journey introduced from Livingston to Edinburgh Park.
Service 280 – Revised Route & Timetable
Revised route, with buses additionally serving Ladywell East and Burnbank. The Monday to Saturday daytime frequency will be increased to every 20-minutes and some journeys will be specifically re-timed for shift workers at the Tesco distribution centre.
Service 281 – NEW Service
New service linking Deans North with Carmondean, Knightsridge, Ladywell, St John’s Hospital, Craigshill, Livingston Centre, Bellsquarry, Polbeth, West Calder, Addiewell and Loganlea. Buses will operate up to every 30-minutes on Mondays to Saturdays, and hourly on Sundays. This service will provide new direct links on the Lothian Country network from parts of Livingston to Morrison’s/The Range and West Calder/Addiewell.
Service 287 – Revised Route & Timetable
Revised route, with buses now serving Ladywell East and Burnbank. Additionally, the route in Howden will be altered to serve Braid House. This service will now use Stop ‘E’ at Livingston Bus Terminal, as per the 275 to Whitburn. A revised timetable introduced.
Service N28 – Revised Route & Timetable
A new journey from Leith Street to Deans North at 00:25 will be introduced on all days of the week. On Monday to Saturday mornings a new journey from Deans North to Longstone will be introduced at 03:30 for early morning workers. On Saturday mornings the 04:30 journey from Deans North to Sighthill will no longer operate, and on Sunday mornings, the 03:30 & 04:30 Deans North to Sighthill journeys will no longer operate.
Service 109 – Withdrawn
This service will no longer operate, and is partly replaced by early morning journeys on Services N28 & X28.
